Trigger Warning

If I may return to earth, let it be
As hopeless as a blade of grass
Or strong as an oak tree
Pleasing as a bluejay or
Relentless working as a bee
A worm that feeds a baby bird
A daisy with a caterpillar
eating away my leaves

Let me be something that gives
For in this life I’ve been blessed to receive
I have earth, all mine, and a body that grows
And lives and drinks and eats
Enjoying pleasures I don’t even have to ask for
And wondering what my past selves had to suffer
For me to have been born me
