the baggage I used to now

At times it’s been rough
at times there were even tears
the feelings have been overwhelming
and so were the fears.
Good people I’ve met along the way
who’ve brought light into my darkest day
and brighten my day
they gave me hope
and now I can say it’s over and done
the battle has been won
God was closer than even my breath
prayer has been my dearest friend
not just on one occasion
but again and again.
My wife stood with me like a rock
and gave me love and compassion nonstop
so that now we can say
it’s over and done
The battle has been done

bad days march on
The journey that seems endless
Is all left behind?
