Trigger Warning

As the sun rises on Llareggub, this masterpiece of prose by Dylan Thomas gives the fullest expression to his sense of the magnificent flavour and variety of life. A moving and hilarious account of a spring day in a small Welsh town, Under Milk Wood begins with dreams and ghosts before dawn. It moves through the brilliant noisy day of the townspeople and closes as the “rain of dusk brings on the bawdy night”. A rich, lyrical and captivating theatre experience that is “a dazzling combination of poetic fireworks and music-hall humour.” (The New York Times) Originally a play for voices, written as a radio piece, Dylan Thomas is able to convey the life of the people of Llareggub (bugger-all spelt backwards) through some of the most beautiful language ever written for the English stage. The cast of characters includes drunkards, unrequited lovers, gossips, prostitutes, bigamists, a Methodist minister, and ghosts. Two voices used as narrators lead us through these lives and their descriptions of the people and place interweaves the thoughts and words of the village characters over one day from before dawn to nightfall. Presented in repertory with "The Triangle Factory Fire Project". Two-Pak Pricing available, call CCPA at 250-595-9970 if you'd like to book both shows in the Theatrical Treasures Series.
