Trigger Warning
Cerulean Arts is pleased to present Time and Tide, featuring woodcut prints and sculptures by Dan Miller and watercolors and oils by Margo Tassi. The ebb and flow of the natural world, and their engagement to it are integral to both artists’ work. Inspired by the landscapes of rural Pennsylvania and Maine, Miller’s daily routine is to make woodcut prints in the morning, then wood sculpture in the afternoon. Feeling a sympathy for his materials, the wood grain of Miller's relief prints becomes integral to his compositions of landscapes, birds and insects, while the abstract sculptures allow him to express his inner self. The landscapes in and around Port Maitland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia have captured Tassi’s attention for decades. Painted en plein air, Tassi’s work captures the complex puzzle of warm and cool rocks, sea grasses and the ocean itself as it advances, recedes and reflects an ever-changing sky.
