Trigger Warning

Are you a pet lover? Do you enjoy getting creative? Then come join us for a Pet Portrait Paint Night! Lachelle, owner of The Social Pet Sitter, will be guiding you through a fun creative evening that will end with you taking home a self-created portrait of your pet! What's included: -All art materials (paint, canvas, palettes, paint brushes, water containers, paint rags, etc) -Complementary beverages (juice, water) and some light snacks -2 hours of instruction and support What you need to bring: -Clothes that you would be okay getting paint on (an apron, a painting shirt, etc) -A picture of your pet ***see below for suggestions on choosing -a photo that will be best for painting*** -A positive outlook that's not too attached to the outcome 🙂 -A playful spirit! You do NOT need to be an experienced artist to attend this paint night! We will be focusing on capturing an expressive portrait of your pet. This means that it does not necessarily need to be photo-representational, but more of an expression that is unique to you and the spirit of your pet. Check out the images attached to see the 'style' we are aiming for! These are all paintings done by previous attendees! Awesome, eh? I will guide the group through steps that will help you achieve an expressive portrait. There is no right or wrong in this style; it's a style that gives the artist a license to be creative! However, I will be available to offer tips and tricks if you would like them. Suggestions for choosing a picture of your pet: 1. Try to choose a picture of your pet from a three quarter view (slightly off center) or side view. This usually helps beginner painters, and you usually get to see a bit more of your pet's personality this way. 2. Try to make sure the photo isn't fuzzy, and the lighting is even enough so you can see most of your pet's features. Some shadows can be exciting, but can sometimes be difficult to figure out in paint. 3. Try to make sure the photo is mostly of your pet only. Other things in the picture can be distracting and you may not really be able to see as many details of your pet as you would like. Come meet other creative pet lovers, have some fun, and leave with a self-created masterpiece!
