From Plein Air to Studio
January 30 – February 3, 2017 (9am-4pm) Learn to paint landscapes in the most direct way possible using alla prima techniques developed by Sargent, Sorolla, and Zorn. Turn your small outdoor studies into larger studio paintings. This five-day workshop will teach students how to sketch, paint, and photograph in the field, and how to use references to produce a more carefully considered work in the comfort of your studio. Students will draw, paint, and photograph as a group in the Tonto National Forest. Later, students will spend two days working on a large painting in the studio with instructor assistance.
