What is the artists’ relationship to the academy? How do academic work and creative work contest and sustain each other? How do artists working in the academy manage dual roles as artists and scholars? How can artists and creative communities foster relationships with post-secondary institutions? On Friday, June 2nd, 2b theatre will host a colloquium moderated by playwright-in-residence Shauntay Grant, who also teaches in the English Department (Creative Writing Program) at Dalhousie University. Whether you are an artist working in the academy, or a scholar looking to connect and collaborate with artists, or an arts enthusiast curious about the topic – whatever your affiliation, we invite you to join the discussion! What is the Colloquium? 2b theatre company shares a boardroom, an office space and an espresso machine with Live Art Dance and Secret Theatre. It was important to us that it become something more. The boardroom was given the name the Colloquium, and the idea of hosting regular meetings was started. The purpose of the Colloquium is to foster better conversations about art-making.
